What you should know
FAQ
What is the most common necklace length for women?
16″ and 18″ are the classic everyday lengths. 16″ sits at the base of the neck and 18″ falls just below the collarbone on most people.
What if I’m between two lengths?
Choose the longer length, or an adjustable style so you can fine-tune the fit. A necklace that is slightly long is easier to wear than one that feels tight.
How long should a men’s chain be?
20″–22″ is the classic men’s length and sits at or just below the collarbone. Choose 22″–24″ if you plan to wear a pendant or wear the chain over a shirt.
How do I keep layered necklaces from tangling?
Space the layers about 2″ apart, mix chain weights and put the heaviest pendant on the longest chain. Fasten each clasp at the back before adding the next layer.
Does a pendant change the length I need?
Yes. The pendant hangs below the chain by about its own height, so a pendant on an 18″ chain sits lower than a plain 18″ chain.
