Bracelet Size Guide

Measure your wrist, add the right amount of ease and choose between chain bracelets, bangles and cuffs.

Bracelet fit depends on two things: your wrist measurement and the type of bracelet. Chain bracelets are listed by length, while bangles and cuffs are listed by the wrist range they fit.

What you should know

How to measure your wrist

  1. Wrap a soft tape measure, a string or a strip of paper around your wrist, just above the wrist bone.
  2. Mark where it meets, without pulling it tight.
  3. Lay it flat and measure it with a ruler. That is your wrist size.
  4. If you use a printable sizer, print it at 100% scale.

Chain bracelets: add a little ease

Add about 0.5″ to your wrist size for a close fit, or about 1″ for a relaxed fit that moves on the wrist. For example, a 6″ wrist suits a 6.5″ bracelet for a close fit or a 7″ bracelet for a relaxed one.

Some of our chain bracelets have an extender—for example 6.5″ + 2″ extender, adjustable from 6.5″ to 8.5″. The product page always lists the length and any extender.

Bangles and cuffs

  • Hinged bangles open on a hinge, so they don’t need to pass over the hand. Ours fit wrists about 5.5″–7″.
  • Open cuffs slip on sideways at the narrowest part of the wrist. Squeeze gently only if needed, and never bend the same spot repeatedly.
  • Slip-on bangles pass over the hand, so they must fit the widest part of your hand, not just your wrist.

Stacking bracelets

In a stack, the bracelets closest to the hand should be the loosest so they don’t push against each other. Pair one structured piece—a bangle or an engraved ID bracelet—with one or two fine chains.

FAQ

What is the average women’s bracelet size?

Many women’s wrists measure between 5.5″ and 6.5″, which is why many chain bracelets are around 6.5″–7″ long. Always measure your own wrist to be sure.

What is the average men’s bracelet size?

Many men’s wrists measure between 6.5″ and 7.5″, so men’s bracelets are usually around 8″ long.

My wrist is between two sizes. Which should I choose?

Choose the larger size for chain bracelets, or a style with an extender so you can adjust the fit.

How do I put on a bracelet by myself?

Rest your wrist on a table, hold the clasp end steady with your other hand and guide the ring into the clasp. Lobster clasps are the easiest to fasten one-handed.
